Ashbrook HS Raises Graduation Rate...Again

Yesterday, the North Carolina State Board of Education officially released the (preliminary) 2013 graduation cohort rates for every district and high school.  The graduation cohort rates is the percent of ninth graders entering high school in the 2009-2010 school year and graduated four years later in 2013.

For the second consecutive year, Ashbrook High School's graduation rate increased.  Our 2013 graduation cohort is reported as 87.8%, up 0.4% from 2012's 87.4%.  While the increase is small, a two-year comparison demonstrates successful improvement:

Graduation Cohort Rates for Ashbrook High School over the past three years:

2011:  80.7%

2012:  87.4%

2013:  87.8%

Ashbrook's graduation cohort rate has increased 7.4% over the past two years, a tremendous accomplishment as our student enrollment has expanded.  For comparison, the State graduation cohort rate is 82.5%, which is a 2.3% increase from last year.

Gaston County Schools also increased the overall district graduation cohort rate to 81.2%, up from last year's 77.8%.

This accomplishment is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our Principal, administrative team, faculty, student services, students, and parents.  The Ashbrook Community should be extremely proud and we will continue to strive for a 90% rate in accordance with our School Improvement Plan.
