Knights of Honor - Remote Learning 2020

The Lake Norman Charter High School Knights of Honor program recognizes students for their personal progress in fulfilling the LNC Honor Code.  The program allows faculty and staff to nominate students who demonstrate one of the four pillars: Honesty, Integrity, Respect, and Responsibility.

Teachers had the opportunity to nominate students during our Remote Learning environment, which spanned from the opening day of school in August through October 26th.

Our Remote Learning recipients are: Freshman Caroline C. (Responsibility), Junior Kimber G. (Responsibility), Senior Nathaniel J. (Integrity), and Junior Andrew W. (Responsibility).

Their respective nominations:
Caroline has been a standout student during the start of remote learning. Coming from a new school and taking advanced courses, I have been so impressed with her participation and work ethic. Caroline always goes above & beyond!

Throughout the first month of the course, Kimber has stood out to me through her exemplary work in American History class. Not only does she produce excellent work on her own, but she also enhances class Zooms by always being willing to participate by answering questions she knows for sure, or by taking academic leaps on questions that arise organically in class. Good job, Kimber!

Nathaniel was in two of my classes last year and one this year. He is an honest and hard-working student who gives 100% on every assignment. He is in his second year with me for journalism and his talent in graphic design has grown immensely, as he continues to impress me with his creative ideas, attention to detail, and ability to meet all deadlines. He has set high expectations for himself and takes responsibility for doing what needs to be done to meet them.

There have been a few instances so far this year where Andrew had to be out of town for multiple days causing him to miss class. On one such day, he let me know that he would be traveling and was trying to figure out how to complete an assignment that was due on the day he would be traveling. He tried to come up with solutions such as working on the assignment in the car and completing the assignment as soon as he was able to connect to the internet. I was impressed that he took the initiative to try to problem solve ahead of his trip. Taking responsibility to communicate ahead of time with me allowed us to work on a plan that allowed him to travel without worry and still complete his assigned work.

Congratulations to these students for being their best!
