We are about to wrap up our Summer School Credit Recovery program, in which I served as the lead administrator. I could not resist to perform some of my own summer school mathematics.
Each student is required to attend all 10 days of Summer School Credit Recovery. This is a requirement of six hours per day (8:00 am - 2:30 pm, w/ a 30-minute lunch).
The 60 hour requirement = 1 Course (1 Credit) recovered
One regular semester = 90 Instructional Days
90 days / 10 days needed per course = 9 , so nine Credits could be earned during a regular semester.
Therefore, 18 Credits could be earned in one school year (Two semesters).
A student could earn 27 Credits in three regular semesters.
Adding one Summer School credit, a student could earn 28 Credits in a year-and-a-half.
Twenty-eight Credits are required for Graduation in my district.
Twenty-eight Credits could be completed in three semesters plus one Summer School session.
