Pi-Day Beatdown - F3 Highlands

  • When: 03/14/2017
  • QIC: Powerball
  • The PAX: Disaster, Tonya Harding, Klean-Up, Brinkley, Blackbeard, The Force, Stampede, Conchito, Sandman, El Guapo, Snip, Gordo, Olive, Hugo, Gump

16 PAX made the decision to celebrate "Pi Day" the right way, ignoring the rain to join Powerball in his inaugural Q.  The disclaimer was given that Q was indeed a professional, in that PAX can trust him to send their students to his school to spend 40+ hours together, but he is not a trained professional in the manner of parking lot beatdowns.
A mosey to the HCES bus lot ensued for...

WARMARAMA:
  • Side Straddle Hops x 22
  • Imperial Storm Troopers x 7
  • Cotton Picker x 22
  • Merkins x 7
In transition from WARMARAMA to THE THANG, a brief mathematical, historical lesson about the day's significance.  Pi Day is celebrated on 3/14 worldwide.  Pi is the symbol used in mathematics to represent a constant - the ratio of the circumference of a circle to it's diameter.  Pi has been calculated to over one trillion digits, but is occasionally abbreviated to the fraction 22/7, when represented as a rational quotient.  This fraction was the inspiration for today's beatdown.  Therefore...

THE THANG:

Organized in "numerators" of 22 and "denominators" of 7.

3:00 stations, non-stop.  Begin with the numerator exercise.

:14 rest/rotations

PAX was placed in five groups.  Q called out to begin move.
Station 1:
  • 22 Squats
  • 7 Pull-up's
Station 2:
  • 22 Lunges
  • 7 Burpees
Station 3:
  • 22 Dips
  • 7 Derkins
Station 4:
  • 22 Overhead Press w/ Cinder Blocks
  • 7 Step-Up's to Cinder Blocks
Station 5:
  • 22 Chest Press w/ Cinder Blocks
  • 7 Curls w/ Cinder Blocks
Run to the rock and touch it.

Repeato, so every group hits each station twice.  Cinder blocks were returned.  @TheForce asked YHC to join for Low-flutter and Low-dolley.  It wasn't awkward at all.  Mosey to the parking lot for...
MARY:
  • Low Flutter x 22
  • Pretzel Crunch x 7 (Flapjack)
COT and BOM
THE MOLESKIN:

As an irrational and transcendent number, Pi will continue infinitely without repetition or pattern.  Connect this to F3: no two workouts are ever the same and some of our behavior can definitely be considered "irrational."
  1. It was truly an honor to lead a group of men today who impact me more than they realize.
  2. HUGE s/o to @TheForce for organizing a Clown Car from Isotope.  @TheForce recruited me to my first post last summer.  I will forever be indebted to him.
  3. Like any solid lesson plan, I had overplanned.  I apologize if you were looking for a more strenuous Mary.  Maybe next time.
  4. In addition, I did hear the #mumblechatter in regards to my cadence.  Like any solid educator, I opted to ignore it since it was irrelevant to the goal.
  5. Also, I did overhear one PAX (who will remain nameless) exclaim, "He's talking to us like we're his students."
  6. At conclusion of Mary, one PAX made the connection that YHC is actually Principal where his kid attends.  "I'm sure my wife knows who you are."  That PAX will also remain nameless.
  7. @AstroVan is the YHC for The Shield tonight.  @ElGuapo is the host.  See email blast for address.
  8.  Prayer requests were shared and collective message ensued. Prayers to be better husbands, dads, sons, and leaders.
It was an honor!
