Mole Day is the unofficial celebration of Science by Chemistry teachers and students on October 23rd. If celebrated at the true recognition time of 6:02, the resulting time and date is 6:02 10/23. Avogadro's number (6.02 x 10^23) is the number of particles found in one Mole of a substance.
In honor of Mole Day, I am posting an activity provided by a Chemistry teacher during an informal observation earlier this week. To introduce the value of one mole, students actively investigated the following with their peers:
